Fresh Fruit Program

CLick on "Calendar" Link at top of page for month to month 2009/2010 Fruit Ordering Schedule

Find out what's keeping your neighbor so healthy all winter.....

Each month November through April our members collect orders from hundreds of Columbus  area residents for consistently delicious Navel oranges, Honeybells, wonderful grapefruit & other citrus products from the Indian River Valley of Florida.   This has provided 40 +  years of fresh citrus to the community as well as provide a source of funding for Christian Education.

Recent years have also included several varieties of apples, apple butter, apple cider, and honey....all produced in our home state of Indiana.

If you would like to order a minimum of 1 bushel of any variety, call weekdays at 812-372-2011

If you would like to be added to the mailing list send your name, address, home and work phone number to:  SDA Citrus,  PO Box 651,  Columbus, IN  47202-0651

You will be notified via mail of the current fruit available, and can return send the perforated section if you would like to order.

You may, alternatively, e-mail one of the fruit administrators at   columbussda@gmail.com

Mail the order form in to place your order.    If, however, you are within 2 days of the deadline for ordering, please call 372-2011 or 526-5856.

Read just a few recent quotes from local customers….

“I love it and I’ve bought  it for years.   I always depend on it and I love it.  I love the oranges and I occasionally buy the grapefruit too.  I talk to people about it all the time.”   Ann Dickey, Columbus

“It’s excellent.  We have never been disappointed.  Everything we have ever ordered has been excellent and it’s reasonably priced.”    Rita Dillman,  Columbus

“It’s fresh and delicious and I enjoy it very much.  I look forward to the next season.”   J.O. Ricke,  Columbus

“ I don’t remember ever NOT buying fruit from SDA Citrus.   One time I forgot and I about died.”    Pauline Crump, Columbus

“I buy the grapefruit.  It’s the highest quality available and comparable, or better, than the grapefruit I can get when I spend two weeks in Florida.”   Randy Tucker, Columbus

“It’s just the best quality.  It’s so much better than taking supplements or vitamins.   And we love the wonderful people that do it.”    Connie Radovanovic,  Columbus

Fruit count of 2/5 bushel box is, depending on the size,  between 24 and 40 oranges, and 13 and 20 grapefruit. Most of our customers easily eat one 2/5 bushel box a month.

We are unable to order specific 'size' of fruit in advance.   We never know how many of what size they are sending us.    If you really need a certain size, it is first come, first serve.   Arrive between 8 - 10:00AM and you are most likely to get your favorite size.     But remember, they are ALL delicious, no matter the size.

Fruit is considered seedless if it has approximately 6-8 seeds.   NO artificial colors!

As mild, tropical nights in Florida get cooler and the temperature drops, the fruit releases chlorophyll from its skin and develops a deep yellow-orange color. To keep the fruit as natural as possible, H & S Citrus does not add color.
